In March 1957, James M. Burns opened Maternity BVM Credit Union in the basement of the church rectory. The Credit Union was only open after the Masses on Sunday.
The original Board of Directors were:
James M. Burns, Manager/Treasurer
Rev. Joseph Donahue CSV, who was instrumental in the formation of the Credit Union
- Armel L. Dionne
- Douglas F. Altmyer
- Clifford A. Walsh
- Richard L. Bisaillon
- Alfred A. Kyrouac
- Euchrist J. Marcotte
- Leon A. Blanchette
In December 1973, the Credit Union moved to 299 E. Marsile Street. The Credit Union bought the original Senesac Home built in 1900 on the corner of Roy & Marsile Street in Bourbonnais in 1979 from Leon A. Blanchette. For a period of time this home served as the original Senesac Funeral Home.
In 1974, the Credit Union became more accessible to the members and was open in the afternoons (after Mr. Burns finished his full-time job with the US Postal Service). The Credit Union was also open in the evenings by appointment only for those members who were working in the afternoon.
Mr. Burns retired as Manager/Treasurer in 1983. At that time the Credit Union employed a full time Manager/Treasurer and began regular daytime hours Tuesday thru Friday and Saturday mornings till noon.
At the beginning of 2016, the Credit Union took a big step by offering electronic home banking. Members now had the ability to check their balances, transfer internally between accounts and receive e-statements.
In June 2021 Maternity BVM Credit Union purchased the current location at 7 Heritage Drive. After the remodel, with an addition of a drive-thru lane, the Credit Union moved in to the new location in March 2022.
The Board of Directors continue to make improvements in services offered to the members.
